STOVE RIDES

For some club members, sitting in the comfortable surroundings of a cafe is simply too easy. These hardy souls prefer to take tea alfresco, with locations ranging from bus stops to cliff tops.

The stoves vary from the modern Trangia to Heath Robinson contraptions that are best ignited at arms length. While the water is heating it is tradition to engage in banter, usually tall tales of heroic 'stoving trips'. The air resounds with phrases such as 'remember when we nearly blew-up that bus shelter' and 'Of course, you won't get a flame at 5000 feet!'

You can't beat that heady combination of fresh air and the sweet nectar that is tea. This brown elixir has the power to un-knit the furrowed brow or cast out the demons of tired bones. So, take up your stoves and try it today.
