The Kelly Kettle

Nigel demonstrates the 'Kelly kettle' an unusual stoving device, seen here perched on the quay side at The Causeway Bridge, Freshwater.

The power of this device is such that the operator has to place it on a substantial surface similar to the one pictured here. If left unattended on mere tarmac it will begin a 'meltdown'.

The stove is built to receive most kinds of wood and Nigel is wont to supply it with fragrant Cedar which not only provides an excellent flame but is pleasing to the nostril, although fellow stovers are usually found at some distance up wind!
